-The Nutrition situation of adolescent girls and women in Tanzania aged between 15-49 years are iron deficient,Vitamin A and Iodine deficient,two fifths of women are anaemic and one in ten are undernourished.

-About one third of children aged between 6-59 months are iron and vitamin A deficient,69% are anaemic and over 18 Millions of Tanzanians do not consume adequately iodized salts.

-Iron deficient children can lose 13.5 IQ points and the are normally tired and slow lead to poor performance at schools and being less productive in later life.

-Malnutrition threatening economic growth of Tanzania,recently Iron and mineral deficiency alone costs Tanzania TZS 650 Billion($390 million) in lost revenue per year,equivalent to 2.56% of GDP.

-Most of these losses are within agriculture sector (almost 400 billion TZS) where physical stature and strength are critical to productivity.
